How to enjoy group-chats with Skype

If you are new to group-conversations in skype, this might be interesting for you ^^

1. Audio notifications: A groupchat usually puts out lots of messages 24/7. That means it will constantly annoy you with "beeps" if you use standard-skype-configuration. Here's the solution:
   
   open your skype-options (menu > tools > options).
   go to "Sounds".
   uncheck "incoming IM" to mute instant messages.
   alternatively you can click the button "Mute all sounds" to completely silence your skype-client (you really wanted to do that anyway, haven't you?)
   
   you will still get a visual notification for each incoming IM, according to your settings. more on that later..
   
   
2. Bookmark the groupchat! Sometimes you will want to turn off even the visual notifications for incoming IM (maybe you try to concentrate on your work or want to watch a movie, or you want to be without distraction for any reason). Only, once you close the groupchat, there is no way to open it again, and without visual notifications it won't pop up automatically neither. So, to make sure you cannot lose it, BOOKMARK it! that means, add the groupchat to your list of contacts by clicking the button in the chat-header:
   
   
   
   Now you can open the groupchat at any time from your contacts-list (groupchats always appear at the bottom of the list):
   
   
   
3. Visual notifications: You can control the notification-popups in the system-tray here:
   
   .. this will affect all of your conversations!
   Even if you disable the pop-ups, you will still get your taskbar-icon flashing up!
   
   
   To configure notifications for one conversation only, use the conversation-menu:
   
   This will only affect the conversation / groupchat that you are using the menu of. It will enable / disable audio notifications, system-tray popups and taskbar-flashing, so this is what you want to use for quickly setting the notification-mode for your groupchats ,-)
   
   Alternatively you can use a quick slash-command:
   /alertsoff - will quickly silence the conversation
   /alertson - will turn notifications for this conversation on
